Current Openings:

Entertainment Manager

Job Summary: The Douglas County Ag Association Entertainment Manager is responsible for:
● Responsible for all Stage, Log Cabin, Log Cabin Shelter, Grandstand, and other entertainment during the Douglas County Fair
○ 4 nights of Grandstand Entertainment
○ Main Stage Entertainment
○ Heritage Square Entertainment
○ Kids Pedal Pull/Turtle Races
○ Entertainment in the TA Dad Erickson Building
○ Other as requested by the Fair Board or executive Committee
● Working within the approved budget, contract for entertainment on behalf of the Douglas County Ag Association
● Ensuring entertainment contracts are on file and appropriate paperwork is prepared (I9 and payment request form) and presented to Treasurer for payment requests
● Coordinating setup and teardown of acts during the fair
● Coordinating other needs of entertainers as specified in their contracts
● Coordinating Signage
● Soliciting sponsors to cover a portion of the entertainment expenses
● Coordination & Setup of “Mood Music” between acts on the stages
● Setup and Teardown of DCAA owned sound equipment as needed for each stage
● Working with the Communications & Advertising Committee and Manager/External Marketing Team, creation of master entertainment schedule to be published in fair supplement and on website
● And all other duties & responsibilities as assigned

Fair Manager

Job Summary: The Douglas County Fair Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Douglas County Fairgrounds and its facilities and for overseeing all aspects of the annual fair. This includes, but is not limited to:
• Oversee staff, committees, & operations of the Douglas County Fair and Fair-Program including:
• 4-H
• Open Class
• Animals
• Entertainment
• Grounds & building usage, maintenance & utilization
• Parking
• Vendors
• HR
• Communications
• Supervise year-round staff
• Oversee year-round coordination and maximize utilization of fairground buildings & facilities
• In partnership with the appropriate staff or Executive Committee
• Negotiate fair related contracts on behalf of the Douglas County Ag Association
• Hire, review, and discipline all employees that report to the fair manager
• In partnership with the fair Communication/Vendor Managers
• Maintain good public relations with the community and service organizations through media or involvement in community affairs
• Review and audit communications & advertising
• Coordinate grounds (water, electric, lighting) are appropriately prepared for onsite vendors
• In partnership with the fair Treasurer and Finance Committee
• Prepare & maintain a balanced annual budget
• Participate in and prepare input for Long Range Facility Planning
• Oversee major construction projects along with Lead Maintenance Manager
• Strive to Achieve fair attendance goals as set forth by the board of managers
• And all other duties & responsibilities as assigned

Indoor Vendor Manager

Job Summary: The Douglas County Ag Association Indoor Vendor Manager is responsible to:
● Recruit Vendors and Non-Profit Groups to be part of the Douglas County Fair Commercial Exhibit Areas in the RCC, Johnson, Grandstand, Commercial, DNR, FFA and other indoor buildings
● In conjunction with the Vendor Committee and Outdoor Vendor Manager, create a simple/streamlined process for vendors to sign up for the Douglas County Fair
● Coordinate all contracts for vendors and non-profit groups located in the RCC, Johnson, Grandstand, Commercial, DNR, FFA and other indoor buildings
● Communicates regularly with new and previous vendors to keep them abreast of the fair season
● Maintain maps of all indoor vendor locations at the fairgrounds and work with webmaster to offer online vendor registration
● Submit required tax documentation to the State of Minnesota or Treasurer for filing
● Work with Vendor Committee, Outdoor Vendor Manager, and Lead Maintenance Manager to ensure all vendor areas are prepped and ready for the fair
○ Coordinating install of skirting and tables
○ Ensuring lighting is adequate
○ Ensuring booth locations are well maintained and appealing
○ Ensuring electric hookups available
● Vendor sign in, setup and teardown
● Ensure all vendors comply with parking requirements
● Ensure all vendor records are maintained and stored electronically in a central location and are available for review upon request
● And all other duties & responsibilities as assigned

Outdoor Vendor Manager

Job Summary: The Douglas County Ag Association Outdoor Vendor Manager is responsible for:
● Recruit previous and new vendors and non-profit groups to be part of the Douglas County Fair outdoor commercial exhibit areas and calorie lanes
● In conjunction with the Vendor Committee and Indoor Vendor Manager, create a simple/streamlined process for vendors to sign up for the Douglas County Fair
● Coordinating all contracts for outdoor vendors and non-profit groups
○ Man Cave Vendors
○ Bus Lane Vendors
○ Green Space
○ Grandstand Lane Vendors
○ Flea market and Farmers Market Vendors
○ Animal Lane Vendors
○ Food Vendors
○ Lions Buildings
● Communicates regularly with new and previous vendors to keep them abreast of the fair season
● Maintain maps of all indoor vendor locations at the fairgrounds and work with webmaster to offer online vendor registration
● Submitting required tax documentation to the State of Minnesota or Treasurer for filing
● Working with Vendor Committee, Indoor Vendor Manager and Lead Maintenance Manager ensure all vendor areas are prepped and ready for the fair
○ All vendor spots are clearly marked and measured out prior to vendor arrival
○ Ensure Tents are set up for Mancave and other locations
○ Ensuring lighting is adequate
○ Ensuring booth locations are well maintained and appealing
○ Ensuring electric and water hookups are available and functioning throughout the fair week
● Vendor sign in, setup and teardown
● Ensuring all vendors comply with parking requirements
● Ensure all vendor records are maintained and stored electronically in a central location and are available for review upon request
● And all other duties & responsibilities as assigned

Lead Maintenance Manager

Job Summary: As a hands-on working manager with construction and grounds maintenance and management skills, your duties shall include:
• Facilities & Grounds Project Management
• Good communications and project manager skills
• Very good at maintaining a calendar and list of projects
• Working with Grounds & Maintenance Committee and Executive Committee Liaison to prioritize projects and manager requests from various committees
• Building and Equipment Maintenance
• Ensuring buildings and equipment are well maintained and in working order for the season and fair
• Creation of a maintenance calendar
• Identifying future maintenance needs
• Contract & Vendor Management Recommendations for Board Approval
• Responsible for soliciting, negotiating, and managing the Rubbish Contract
• Responsible for soliciting, negotiating, and managing the Lawn Mowing Contract
• Responsible for planning and overseeing projects assigned to Sentence to Serve crews and any other volunteer crews – ensuring they are fully busy and utilized throughout the summer and fair week
• Maintaining a positive relationship with RCC maintenance staff
• Responsible for positive relationship with speedway maintenance staff and all other users of the fair property
• Responsible for soliciting, negotiating, and managing the porta potties and restroom maintenance contracts and overseeing the restrooms and porta potties cleanliness and stocking during the fair week

• Restroom Maintenance
• Coordinate with speedway on use and cleaning of main restrooms by the Grandstand when off-season events are booked at the fairgrounds or in the fair buildings

• Fair Preparation & Teardown
• As directed by fair board and Grounds & Maintenance Committee, ensure all buildings and grounds are ready for the fair

• Other Duties and Tasks
• Preparing Facilities for off-season storage and rentals
• Creating & maintaining master equipment/fixture Inventory
• Preparing equipment/fixtures for disposal by board approved process
• Ensuring electric and water utilities are turned on in the spring, functional, maintained, and secured and winterized in the fall
• Ensure signage is secured and updated
• Must be able to lift more than 20 lbs
• And all other duties & responsibilities as assigned

• Employee Tracking: Managers shall be responsible for tracking attendance of their workers. Staff timesheets shall be turned in no later than 5 p.m. Sunday
Employee Discipline: Managers shall report any employee challenges to the Executive Committee and HR Manager in a timely manner
